| Observation |
Possible Cause |
Corrective Action |
| Loss of "bond" to investment |
Retention tabs |
"Bond" between Densulate and gypsum is mechanical not chemical. When Densulate is partially set, use a finger or instrument to lift material to create mechanical retention. |
|
Inadequate thickness |
A minimum coverage of 2 mm should be used to maintain the strength of the tabs. |
|
Set time |
Allow the material to completely set before pouring upper half of the flask. |
|
Packing pressure |
Excessive pressure during flask closure may cause the denture base flowing out of the flask to stretch the Densulate thereby pulling it out of the investment. |
| Tooth movement |
Open bite |
Remove material from the incisal and occlusal surfaces during flasking procedures to provide a solid seat for teeth. |
